The Autonomous Province of Bolzano is one of the two provinces of the Region Trentino South Tyrol which, in force of a constitutional law, possesses a special autonomy with wide legislative and administrative in many important sectors, such as environment, territory, transports, public works, economy, labour, production, health care, assistance, society, transports, culture, education, university and research, etc.

The Autonomous Province of Bolzano has, in consequence of a constitutional law, a delegation of regulatory power on some school subjects as the Ministery of Education, University and Research (MIUR) does in the Italian school system.

School Superintendency of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano for Italian Language schools adopts administrative measures regarding:

- teaching staff recruitment, school financing, teaching staff careers, and directly takes care for the implementation of projects regarding school sports, eduavational and technological innovation, school-work-economy relationships, the School Superintendency has a staff of about 50 employees. Its servicies are directed to 34 primary schools, 16 1^st level education schools and 11 2^nd level education schools.
