Arbeit und Leben Hamburg is an organization which has been dealing with adult training for the last 50 years. It is managed by the German Trade Union Association and by the Volkshochschulen (Institutions offering adult training).

Arbeit und Leben Hamburg offers courses in trade union studies, social and political studies, intercultural training, and vocational and educational training for unemployed people and above all for people with low specialization and young people exchanges on an international level.

Arbeit und Leben Hamburg organizes more than 400 courses a year with more than 5.000 participants. Now there are more than 50 full-time and part-time work teams operating at Arbeit und Leben Hamburg.

It possesses a wide network of educational institutions in the whole of Europe and it is working as well with non European partners. In the field of social and political training, it has been leading several projects on international training in Europe with continental and Nordic partners.

Every year the Mobility Agency of Arbeit und Leben Hamburg sends more than 650 participants from Hamburg – in the framework of the vocational and educational training – towards a certain number of European countries and supports these people, giving them a special preparation course.

In Hamburg 350 participants coming from the whole of Europe are accomodated into several sectors. They are supported with language courses, with cultural and social programmes, with help in the accomodation management, in the organization of qualified internships in companies and with the evaluation of the programmes. Arbeit und Leben Hamburg possesses a DIN ISO 9001- 2000 certification since 2007.
